As summer arrived in Denmark, Ørkenens Sønner took to the stage at Bellevue Teatret on Thursday, June 5, in front of an excited premiere audience. The nerves that had built up among the four desert sons leading up to the premiere quickly proved to be totally unnecessary—the premiere was a resounding success, and praise from both the audience and critics rained down on Ørkenens Sønner.

The release marks yet another occasion on which the four actors Søren Pilmark, Niels Olsen, Asger Reher, and Henrik Koefoed have elevated bawdiness to a higher level. It contains a beautifully varied two-hour show with a brand new Western theme, featuring Niels Olsen in suspenders and fishnet stockings as General Custer, lodge sketches with the brotherhood, Fjærtoman, Asger Reher performing a spectacular stunt in alternative farts, and four-part singing from the four brothers, who totally knock the audience out with barely concealed bawdy innuendos.

And it was sold out. People got what they came for. As always, Niels Hausgaard's tour of 67 concerts is completely sold out—and it's easy to see why. He is Denmark's best seated stand-up comedian, managing to skewer the warlords Bush and Fogh with witty and funny angles, ridiculing Camre and the Langballe and Krarup cousins until there's not a dry eye in the house. He also exposes the creeping fascism at the Danish royal family's dinner tables, overflowing with marble cake and self-satisfaction.

Our old lodge brothers are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. This is being celebrated with the release of their eighth show! The show was recorded over two evenings in April and has now been edited down to just under two hours of fantastic (sultry) entertainment. The show covers a wide range of topics, and this year we meet the Little Mermaid, the Egtved Girl, the Grovbollemanden, and H.C. Andersen. The show also offers a reunion with Olsen, Meyer, Emma, and pet shop owner Clausen from Huset På Christianshavn itself. On October 29th and 30th, 2009, rock 'n' roll royalty held court at Madison Square Garden for what have been called 'the best concerts ever,' and 'where rock 'n' roll history was made.' The concerts featured a who's who of rock 'n' roll from the '50s to the '90s and included artists performing together in unprecedented combinations that will most likely never be witnessed again. 'The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Anniversary Concerts' included sets by Crosby, Stills & Nash; Stevie Wonder; Paul Simon; Simon & Garfunkel; Aretha Franklin; Metallica; U2; Jeff Beck and Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band. Joining this iconic line up on stage were special guests including: Jerry Lee Lewis, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Smokey Robinson, B.B. King, Annie Lennox, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Mick Jagger, Fergie and others. A 4-hour special of the concerts aired on HBO to high ratings, and was seen by tens of millions. Now this historic event is available on DVD.
