Due divi assoluti al Metropolitan per il capolavoro di Gaetano Donizetti: Joan Sutherland e Alfredo Kraus rendono questa edizione di Lucia di Lammermoor un evento memorabile, una di quelle serate che resteranno nella memoria degli appassionati d'opera. La scena della pazzia di Lucia è di straordinaria intensità; il finale è cantato da Kraus con classe e partecipazione impareggiabili. Accanto a ottimi interpreti delle parti di contorno, si distinguono anche la concertazione di Bonynge, incisiva ma sempre rispettosa delle voci, e l'efficace messinscena di Donnell, che si nuove nel solco della tradizione.

Di qui l’importanza della proposta: ma questa Tosca inaugurale sarà innanzitutto una festa della musica, grazie anche alle voci superbe di Anna Netrebko, Francesco Meli e Luca Salsi, e del teatro con il ritorno di Davide Livermore, già applauditissimo per Attila il 7 dicembre 2018, che si avvarrà delle scene di Giò Forma.
