Gamera - Il mostro gigante

Nei cieli del Polo Nord si svolge un combattimento tra due aerei nemici, uno dei quali viene colpito e precipita e si schianta nel ghiaccio. Questa esplosione, simile a quella nucleare, risveglia Gamera, gigantesca tartaruga alta 60 metri che dormiva sepolta nel ghiaccio da circa 8.000 anni. Il mostro si immerge nel mare e fa rotta verso il Giappone mentre scienziati e forze armate si mobilitano per fermarlo. Una volta raggiunta la terraferma, Gamera, che pure ha rispetto per la vita degli esseri umani specialmente se bambini, provoca una impressionante serie di devastazioni. Dopo un primo duello con Godzilla gli insetti si uniscono insieme al D.N.A di Godzilla facendo nascere Megagurius, un insetto gigante che ricorda molto la sorella di Mothra, Battra, anche se più spaventosa. Nel duello finale Godzilla sconfiggerà Megaguirus con un potentissimo raggio atomico salvando la città.

Nella stessa battaglia perde la vita il Tenente Sleggar, pilota di cui Mirai è segretamente innamorata.
