AEW All In: London

All In London at Wembley Stadium was the second All In professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It took place on August 27, 2023, at Wembley Stadium in London, England. This will mark AEW's debut in the United Kingdom and as well, the company's first event outside of North America.

Two Days

The story concentrates on a single 48-hour period during the Russian Revolution. The central character, played by Y. E. Samchykovski, is an old servant who staunchly supports the Royal Family. Even when his master is placed in prison and his son is appointed a commissar, the servant remains faithful to the Czarist regime. But when his village is invaded by the White Russian army and his son is summarily executed, the old man realizes that his homeland is far better off in the hands of the revolutionaries, who seek to build rather than destroy. A "cleansing" fire brings this propaganda piece to an appropriately symbolic conclusion.

The Wanderers

The story concerns Edevart (Trond Peter Stamso Munch), a young man who is learning about life an his place in it. In the story, he at first takes up with August (Helge Jordal), a charming trader who is at least half con-man. After trailing along with him for a while, he decides that August is not a man he wants to model his life after. He becomes acquainted with and falls in love with Lovise Margrete (Marika Lagercrantz) a woman living alone on a sheep farm. She has feelings for him also, but she remains true to her missing husband and their acquaintance does not progress to being a full-fledged romance. It is not until her husband returns to her life that any resolution to Edevart's frustration (which lasts for years) can be achieved.

Shark in a Bottle

Guy Normal (probably not his real name) is clumsy, has amnesia, and has fallen into the hands of an unscrupulous man who arranges killings for hire. The Arranger trains Guy to be a killer (and there's evidence that Guy perpetrated a mass murder in an Arizona post office), then sends him to do various jobs. Although Guy bumbles, the jobs get done. But Guy rebels against this life, tries to reconstruct his past, and falls in love with the Arranger's mistress (who also has no place else to go). When Guy becomes expendable, his days seem numbered. Can Guy outsmart the mastermind and the highly skilled assassins sent to kill him?

La ragazza di Harry, Maryon, è una borghese annoiata e problematica, anche lei tossicodipendente. Quattro vite ai margini, quattro storie destinate a risolversi tragicamente.

Elephant

Il cinema ha spesso rivisitato la cronaca accentuando magari i tratti piu' spettacolari della realtà. Gus Van Sant compie un'operazione analoga ma di segno opposto. Dopo Michael Moore anche Van Sant riflette sulla strage compiuta da due studenti nei confronti di compagni e professori nel liceo di Columbine negli Usa. Lo fa con un film di breve durata in cui si affida a una macchina da presa che pedina alcuni dei protagonisti che diverranno vittime o assassini quasi fosse una candid camera. Ne esce un quadro di desolante vuoto esistenziale, un tunnel che non ha una luce sul fondo. Non c'è più neppure la tragedia. La morte per strage si tinge di banale quotidianità.

Sarah, madre e moglie insoddisfatta, intreccia una relazione extraconiugale con Brad, padre casalingo dalle aspirazioni lavorative frustrate. Sullo sfondo, una provincia americana dilaniata da una sottile, quanto insidiosa, forma di disperazione esistenziale.

Dopo aver perduto in un incidente d'auto la figlia e il marito, compositore di successo, Julie (Binoche) tenta di ricominciare da zero sbarazzandosi di tutto quel che la lega al passato, senza elaborare nemmeno un po' il lutto. Aiutata dal caso, è risucchiata dentro la vita e decide di amare il prossimo. Completa una partitura incompiuta del marito (un “Concerto per l'Europa”). Sceglie per il “Memento” del coro il tredicesimo capitolo della prima lettera di Paolo ai Corinti. 1° film della trilogia sui colori della bandiera francese (blu = libertà): coincide interamente con la protagonista (Kieslowski: “Voglio filmare la tua intimità”) che, tolta una breve scena, è sempre presente sullo schermo. Gli altri personaggi sono funzioni narrative più che figure con vita propria.
