Whilst Anna and Rosa try to impress the judges making by perfect and beautiful carpets, Maria surprises the village by creating an unexpected textile. Designer, illustrator, and animator Carolina Melis' short film Le fiamme di Nule uses animation and live footage to portray the story of the three weavers in the Sardinian village of Nule. The story was inspired by a trip Meils took to the village, where she became fascinated with their traditional textile-making techniques.

I bassifondi

In un dormitorio pubblico gestito da una coppia meschina e avara, vivono vari vagabondi, ognuno col proprio passato fatto di fallimenti, sfortune, errori. C'è chi sogna un futuro migliore, chi ricorda le glorie del passato, chi è già rassegnato a vivere così il resto della propria esistenza. Tra loro c'è un vecchio che spicca per la propria saggezza, cercando di infondere in loro un minimo di speranza nel futuro. Kurosawa traspone, come fece anni prima Renoir, un omonimo dramma di Maksim Gor'kij. Il film si svolge quasi tutto all'interno del dormitorio, dando alla pellicola una forma statica e teatrale. Gli attori sono tutti ottimi caratteristi, sebbene il film, per la staticità di cui sopra e la lentezza e la verbosità delle sequenze alla lunga risulta un pò pesante. Kurosawa si conferma comunque ancora una volta un ottimo narratore di storie e di vicende esistenziali.

Soon after Gogol's death, Binh names him guilty for the deaths of the Cossacks and the young women at the hands of the Dark Horseman, since he was the one who ordered them to be hidden in the barn. Bomgart is unable to perform a post-mortem analysis on the Gogol's body, while Vakula's daughter Vasilina (who secretly has magic abilities) proclaims denial about Gogol's demise.

Boobs in Arms

The stooges are greeting card salesmen who are mistakenly inducted into the army after escaping from the jealous husband of one of their customers. In bootcamp their sergeant turns out to be the same man, whom they constantly vex and bewilder. When the boys are sent to the front lines and the sergeant is captured they must rescue him, which they do after doping themselves with laughing gas. At the end they get shot off into the sunset on a cannon shell.
