The revue is first and foremost Dirch Passer's. Here he is at the top of his game in his successful career as a revue artist. A genre he masters better than anyone else. Daimi is a worthy co-star, not least in their big song number "Who have you kissed in your doorway?" and Lily Broberg, Preben Kaas, and Klaus Pagh are also in their element.

In an elaborate fantasy sequence which makes up the last third of the film, Haji finds himself in hell, witness to all sorts of macabre and elaborate tortures and horrors. The film is noted for its elaborate set pieces which recall Méliès. There is even a sequence involving Hitler in hell!

El hombre señalado

This relentlessly realistic Argentine production was released in the U.S. as The Marked Man. The title character is a poverty-stricken janitor who suddenly wins an enormous sum in the National lottery. Spending money before he actually collects it, the janitor is appalled to discover that his wife has inadvertently sold the winning ticket to a door-to-door peddler. The ticket was hidden in the band of an old straw hat, which passes through several hands as the janitor frantically searches for the precious headgear. What might have been handled as a farce by another director is transformed into a stark, utterly credible urban tragedy by director Francis Laurie.

Much has been written about the Sofitel affair in New York. It was probably the most widely covered story in the press in 2011. A perfect subject for newspapers and satirical shows. Top of the list is Les Guignols, who, for the release of their annual DVD, chose to feature Dominique Strauss-Kahn in a leopard-print bathrobe on the cover. The title of this best-of is "La sextape des Guignols". This is unlikely to amuse the ex-IMF boss's communicators, who have been working on correcting his image for several weeks now.
