From PBS and Frontline: With unprecedented access, FRONTLINE investigates the impact of mass incarceration in America, focusing on a troubled housing project in Louisville, Kentucky, and a statewide effort to reverse the trend. There are some 2.3 million people behind bars in the U.S. today, but a disproportionate number come from a few city neighborhoods, and in some places the concentration is so dense that states are spending millions of dollars a year to lock up residents of single blocks. "Prison State" examines one community, Louisville's Beecher Terrace housing project, and follows the lives of four residents as they move in and out of custody, while Kentucky tries break that cycle and shrink its prison state.

The Little Animals of Anthony van Leeuwenhoek

Anthony van Leeuwenhoek, a Dutch naturalist of the 18th century, the founder of scientific microscopy, makes a lens in his workshop. He is visited by an English scientist, a member of the Royal Society of London. Leeuwenhoek shows the scientist his "microscope". A scientist examines a flea, mold on bread, and other objects through a "microscope." He recommends that Leeuwenhoek write about his invention to the Royal Society of London. Leeuwenhoek refuses. The scientist writes the letter himself. Leeuwenhoek examines different objects through a "microscope". He is visited by a friend of Google, with whom he shares his observations. Leeuwenhoek and Google talk about the origin of the "little animals" in the water. Leeuwenhoek takes samples of rainwater and pond water. The simplest microorganisms, taken through a microscope. Leeuwenhoek writes a letter in which he outlines the results of his research.

King Lily of the Valley

Spring is in the air and Puck and Einar, as well as Christer Wijk are invited to a wedding in Skoga. The day before the wedding, the bride-to-be enters a flower-shop in order to inspect her bridal bouquet of lily of the valley, but suddenly vanishes without at trace. When she eventually turns up again, it is Christer who finds her. She lies dead outside her home with a bouquet of lily of the valley in her hand. Everybody close to the bride are suspects, not least her best friend, whom Christer has just begun flirting with. Everybody seems to have something to hide. Question is: are their secrets connected to the murder?

After the end of the GDR, thrashings, threats and hunts were part of everyday life. In the years after the reunification of the early 1990s, hatred, racism and violence against foreigners and supporters of leftist ideology broken out in Eastern Germany. Most of those involved was young people. In many cities and towns, the streets and squares belonged to the right-wing scene, organized in neo-Nazi comradeships. Bomber jackets, combat boots and the Hitler salute showed the intimidated rest where they were. The baseball bat was a popular weapon. There were riots, attacks on asylum seekers' homes, mass brawls and hunt downs to those who look or think differently. It doesn't took long and the first deaths were to be mourned. The majority of the Eastern German population looked the other way or even applauded the deeds. A bad omen for the political development of later years. In six film segments, a team of authors take a look at the time reflected in interviews with contemporary witnesses.
