Ryunosuke è un samurai sociopatico senza compassione o scrupoli. Splendido film d'azione in chiave ironica e di ritmo snello, ma anche limpida parabola sulla cupidigia del denaro con risvolti ironici e una lontana parentela con Goldoni (Arlecchino servitore di due padroni). Yojimbo (che significa "guardia del corpo") è il modello su cui Sergio Leone ricalcò Per un pugno di dollari e Walter Hill Ancora vivo. Ma, forse, all'origine di tutto c'è Red Harvest (Piombo e sangue, 1929) di Dashiell Hammett.

Zan - Killing

A metà Ottocento il Giappone vive un lungo periodo di pace. Il samurai Mokunoshin Tsuzuki aiuta gli agricoltori di un piccolo villaggio e fa amicizia con il giovane Ichisuke, il figlio di un contadino che sogna di diventare un giorno un valente samurai. Tsuzuki è sempre più attratto da Yu, la sorella di Ichisuke, e comincia a percepire i primi venti di guerra. Fino a quando Jirozaemon Sawamura si presenta in campagna per formare un piccolo gruppo di guerrieri da portare a Edo. Il villaggio cambierà identità per sempre.

Kagemusha - L'ombra del guerriero
