Days of the Bagnold Summer

Sue works in a library. Daniel eats crisps and listens to Metallica. This was the summer Daniel was due to spend with his father and his father's new wife in Florida. But when they cancel his trip at the last minute, Sue and Daniel suddenly face the prospect of six long weeks together.

Life of a Mutt

Through seven scenes, the film follows the life and destinies of stray dogs from the margins of our society, leading us to reconsider our attitude towards them. Through the seven “wandering” characters that we follow at different ages, from birth to old age, we witness their dignified struggle for survival. At the cemetery, in an abandoned factory, in an asylum, in a landfill, in places full of sorrow, our heroes search for love and togetherness. By combining documentary material, animation and acting interpretation of the thoughts of our heroes, we get to know lives between disappointment and hope, quite similar to ours.

Sivamani

Shivamani (Nagarjuna) is a honest cop in Vizag. He falls in love with Vasantha (Asin), a beautiful lady who aspires to become a singer. There is a mafia guy called Dutt (Prakash Raj), whom Shivamani troubles a lot. Incidentally Vasantha is distantly related to Dutt and both of them belongs to Kerala. In the meantime, Shivamani's mother (Sangeeta) gets paralyzed. Shivamani and Vasantha take her to Kerala to get the treatment of Kerala's Ayurveda specialists. In the process, Dutt gets back to Kerala and he is on the mission to weaken Shivamani by getting Vasantha away from him. The rest of the story is all about how he gets back Vasantha with the help of a newspaper's editor Pallavi (Rakshita).

Coraline e la porta magica

È così che Coraline scopre una porticina che dà su un tunnel polveroso che porta ad un altro appartamento, in tutto simile al suo, dove vivono un'altra mamma e un altro papà, che altro non fanno che occuparsi di lei. Tutto è spettacolare e desiderabile, dall'altra parte del tunnel, se non fosse che le persone hanno strani bottoni cuciti al posto degli occhi.

Sydney Wells ha perso la vista quando era ancora una bambina. Ora le viene offerta la possibilità di un trapianto di cornea che dovrebbe consentirle di tornare a vedere normalmente. L'operazione riesce ma la giovane donna dichiara di vedere esseri spaventosi e trasformazioni dei luoghi non solo negli incubi notturni ma anche durante la veglia. Inoltre, già mentre era ancora in convalescenza in ospedale, ha assistito alla dipartita della compagna di stanza accompagnata nell'al di là da un mostruoso essere. Il suo sospetto (inizialmente non creduto da altri) è di stare vedendo ciò che chi le ha donato le cornee poteva vedere.

La città perduta

Un uomo, concepito da uno scienziato con l'ambizione di creare l'essere più intelligente del mondo, invecchia prematuramente per via di un grosso problema: non riesce a sognare. Aiutato dai suoi fratelli, concepiti anche questi in provetta (sono infatti dei cloni), rapisce i bambini della città portuale per poterne rubare i sogni e trovare la cura alla sua malattia prima di morire. Il problema con i bambini che rapisce è che fanno sempre e solo incubi, fondamentalmente perché hanno paura proprio di lui, e in questo modo non c'è modo di trovare una soluzione.

Nei Paesi scandinavi Ti piace Hitchcock?, frase che viene pronunciata da una delle protagoniste del film, è arrivato nel 2005. Noi italiani, abbiamo dovuto aspettare il 24 agosto 2007 per vederlo su Rai Due. Non al cinema, dunque, ma in televisione. Dario Argento, infatti, signore incontrastato dell'incubo cinematografico italiano, ritorna al tubo catodico dirigendo un film tv per Rai Fiction, prodotto dalla Genesis Motion Pictures. Film tv che dovrebbe essere il pilot di una serie di 8 pellicole: esperimento artistico che aveva già collaudato nel 1973 con gli episodi de La porta sul buio.

L'uomo dagli occhi a raggi X

Il dottor Xavier si inietta un siero che gli permette di ottenere una vista a raggi X. Procurata accidentalmente la morte di un collega, inizia a vagabondare di città in città. Dopo essere stato sfruttato anche in un luna park arriva alla decisione di accecarsi, anche per sfuggire ai dolorosi effetti collaterali del siero: terribili emicranie e necessità di portare occhiali piombati. Al culmine del suo periodo Poe, Corman ci prova con questo fantascientifico-horror, da un racconto di Ray Russell. Con pochi mezzi, molto ingegno e una storia implacabile e ben congegnata.
