In una zona remota del deserto australiano il geologo Lance Hackett deve eseguire delle trivellazioni per proseguire le sue ricerche per conto di una grande compagnia mineraria. L'area sulla quale la compagnia mineraria ha intenzione di lavorare è però un posto in cui per gli aborigeni "le formiche verdi sognano" e distruggerlo avrà come conseguenza la distruzione dell'umanità.

Amateur filmmaker Kemal Mutlu captures scenes of everyday life with plans of making a film. He lives with his housemate Nuri in a small flat in Istanbul. One day,Nuri's friend from orphanage, Izzet, comes to visit unannounced. Just out of prison, Izzet's colorful character grabs Kemal's attention, and he decides to make a film about him. Unfortunately, it soon turns out that underneath his friendly exterior, Izzet is a psychopath. When he is refused entry into a bar, he gets in by force and kidnaps actress Oznur Kula. Kemal is happy to have found an actress to star in his film, however things soon get out of control as Izzet's sick plans unfold.

Il silenzio

Le sorelle Ester ed Anna sono in viaggio in treno di ritorno dalle vacanze estive. Con loro c'è anche un bambino, Johan, figlio di Anna. A causa di un malore di Ester debbono scendere alla prima stazione e cercare alloggio in un albergo in cui però il personale parla una lingua sconosciuta e sembra non essere in grado di comprenderne altre. Intanto Johan incontra un gruppo di nani che lo fanno partecipare ai loro giochi travestendolo anche da bambina. Mentre Ester cerca di riprendersi in hotel Anna va al cinema e si accorge che nessuno in città prova alcun interesse per ciò stanno facendo gli altri. Prima di poter ripartire tutti e tre i protagonisti verranno coinvolti in esperienze inattese.

Una dozzina di individui abbrutiti vive una vita senza speranza in quello che resta di una cooperativa agricola, nell'attesa ansiosa di andarsene. Sperano in un futuro migliore grazie al denaro che riceveranno dalla chiusura della comunità. Il carismatico Irimiás, che sparì due anni prima dalla comunità e che ormai tutti davano per morto, sta per tornare. La voce del suo ritorno rapidamente arriva al villaggio e il film si concentra sull'impatto e le conseguenze che il ritorno di Irimias ha sugli abitanti della fattoria che si troveranno a far fronte non solo alle astuzie di Irimiás ma anche ai conflitti che dividono gli uni dagli altri.
