NEW SHORES is a sister film to IN THE STONE HOUSE in many ways. Like the latter film, it consists of earlier footage edited in recent years. It could be seen as a sequel to IN THE STONE HOUSE especially since it begins with a cross-country journey to the West Coast, where I settled, and concludes with a visit, in 1987, to the “stone house” in rural New Jersey. Even though there is some sort of time line that can be imagined, the film stands on its own. It is simply a series of episodes that touch upon facets of living in a new area with new weather, new people, new identities and stubborn old fears. The Bolex camera goes to work across landscapes and living areas, workplaces and gatherings. A dance of images: can beauty partner with dread and death? It’s a film of the coexistences that percolate beneath the surface of ordinary events. A film of useless hopes and baseless fears.

Vampira: The Movie

Vampira The Movie chronicles the story of Malia "Vampira" Nurmi living on the very edge of show business and her rise to celluloid cultdom 50 years later. Her big break came in 1954 when she played the "glamour ghoul" Vampira, emerging from the mist to greet viewers of obscure horror movies on the new medium - television. Her newfound fame led to friendships with Marlon Brando, James Dean and Anthony Perkins. But Vampira's show was abruptly cancelled. Nurmi appeared as Vampira again in the 1959 low-budget horror / sci-fi film, Plan 9 from Outer Space, directed by Edward D Wood Jr. and often dubbed "the worst film of all time." But you can't keep a good vampire down and Nurmi's character rose from the dead again in 1993's Ed Wood, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp. The movie renewed interest in Maila Nurmi and she has since achieved a Bettie Page-like cult status.

I figli... so' pezzi 'e core

Tommaso Maffettone è un onest'uomo che tenta di sbarcare il lunario come scaricatore di porto e suonatore ambulante. Nonostante le difficoltà economiche, vive felice in un popoloso condominio assieme alla moglie Matilde. Quando la donna scopre di essere incinta, la coppia è al settimo cielo ma ben presto le cose precipitano, poiché a causa delle sue precarie condizioni fisiche la donna perde il bambino. Tommaso decide allora di adottare un neonato orfano, Feliciello, dicendo alla moglie che era il loro bambino e tacendole la tragica morte della loro creatura. Poco tempo dopo, Matilde muore e Tommaso resta solo con Feliciello da crescere. Si mostra come un padre premuroso e amorevole. Un giorno però il vero padre di Feliciello, il facoltoso Berisi, riesce a ritrovare il ragazzino e, approfittando della sua ricchezza e del suo potere, riesce a strapparlo a Tommaso.

Spaghetti House

Prendendo spunto da un fatto realmente accaduto, il film racconta la storia di Domenico, cameriere italiano a Londra, che assieme ai suoi quattro connazionali, vorrebbe lasciare il ristorante dove lavora per mettersi in proprio. Ma il sogno dei cinque emigranti viene interrotto dall'irruzione di tre negri, delinquenti da quattro soldi alla ricerca dell'incasso della giornata. L'intervento della polizia fa rintanare tutti e otto dentro la dispensa e così la rapina si trasforma, senza volerlo, in sequestro. Per evitare peggiori conseguenze il capo dei banditi cerca di far credere che si tratta di un'azione terroristica e fa alla polizia delle richieste per la fuga. Mentre la polizia tergiversa, nella dispensa, tra i meridionali italiani e i negri si passa dall'ostilità alla solidarietà.

Summit

Film drammatico italiano. Paolo è un giornalista che, inviato in Francia per seguire i lavori di una conferenza, ritrova la sua ex amante Annie che cerca di riconquistare. La donna nel frattempo si è unita ad un altro uomo ma decide ugualmente di rivedersi con Paolo, ma la nuova frequentazione va male e Annie decide di partire per New York con il nuovo compagno e lascia Paolo per sempre.
