Composta da 11 alpinisti, Robert Paragot (capo spedizione), Georges Payot, Lucien Berardini, Yannick Seigneur, Claude Jager, Jean-Paul Paris, Jean-Claude Mosca, François Guillot, Bernard Mellet, Robert Jacob e Jacques Marchal (chirurgo), impiegò venticinque giorni di cammino sui sentieri himalayani con 460 portatori e 18 sherpa per trasportare 14 tonnellate di equipaggiamento fino al campo base. Alla fine, furono Mellet e Seigneur a raggiungere la vetta il 23 maggio 1971: 8481 m, temperatura -30°, ossigeno 30%, assenza di vento.
