Vacanze in collegio

Il prof. Blanchard, soprannominato 'Merluzzo', è incaricato durante le vacanze di Natale, di sorvegliare i ragazzi che sono rimasti in collegio. Essi sono furiosi di vedersi affidati a tale sorvegliante, dal fisico poco attraente e ingiustamente detestato da tutti a causa dei suoi modi bruschi che incutono quasi terrore agli allievi. La vigilia infatti trascorre sotto l'incubo delle sue punizioni e i ragazzi covano un sordo rancore. Ma al loro risveglio, la mattina, ciascuno di essi trova in fondo al letto una piccola strenna che il prof. Blanchard, pur non essendo ricco, ha voluto procurar loro per rendere meno triste a quei ragazzi - lontani dalle gioie della famiglia - la cara solennità del Natale. Immediatamente gli allievi si ricredono sul professore che non sarà più chiamato 'Merluzzo' e verrà da essi amato, come le sue ottime qualità meritano.
