Hong Kong Express

Opera del 1994, Hong Kong Express è diviso in due episodi: i protagonisti sono due poliziotti (che nel film vengono indicati con i numeri 223 e 663), entrambi reduci dalla fine di un rapporto d'amore, e ancora non rassegnati a continuare la loro vita. E' un film molto delicato, che ci introduce nella vicenda gradatamente, presentandoci prima gli effetti e poi le cause. Girato in poco più di tre mesi, facendo larghissimo uso della camera a mano, con stile più da videoclip musicale che da film classico e un budget ridottissimo, offre diversi spunti interessanti tanto nei contenuti e nel modo con il quale vengono presentati allo spettatore, che nella tecnica. La regia è sicura, vivace nonostante i frequentissimi cambi di scena, o le lunghe inquadrature "sulla tristezza" dei personaggi.

Nonostante abbia avuto numerose nominations all'Oscar '92 (vincendo quelli per scenografia e costumi), il film è solo in parte riuscito. Ha comunque al suo attivo l'interpretazione di Beatty, anche se un po' troppo sopra le righe.
