Falstaff

It is to composer and librettist Arrigo Boito and his constant pestering of the octogenarian Verdi that there remained within him one last great comedy fighting to get out that we owe this absolute miracle of an opera. Produced in 1893 as Verdi turned 80 there is much in this masterpiece that can be identified as a modernist neoclassical work. The use of short motifs instead of long arioso melodic lines, the spry and reduced orchestral textures and the lack of a single 'stand and deliver' dramatic declamatory aria all serve to make this more of a 20th century work than an example of 19th century late-Romanticism.

The Metropolitan Opera: Siegfried

Robert Lepage’s remarkable Met Opera production of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, the 2013 Grammy Award Winner for Best Opera Recording, is now available as individual DVDs. Siegfried features Bryn Terfel, Jay Hunter Morris, and Deborah Voigt, with Fabio Luisi conducting.

Per questo chiedono ai terrestri di aiutarli: se loro 'presteranno' agli Xiliens Godzilla (Mostro 1) e Rodan (Mostro 2) per combattere il Mostro 0, gli alieni in cambio consegneranno un'assistenza alla loro scienza medica.

Humraaz

A wealthy industrialist and business man named Raj Singhania lives in Bombay, India. He reaches up with a music band in which Karan Malhotra is the leader and Priya is his right-hand and sweetheart. Karan finds that it is not easy to achieve one's merit. A contract made between the two for his band to sing on a crusade for Raj. He agrees to do so and later on conspire with his girlfriend Priya to take over Raj vast estate by setting up his girlfriend to marry Raj fakely. On a chance encounter one day Raj and Priya both meet, where by Raj fall head over heals in love with Priya.

Chunauti

Chunauti is an action-packed romantic comedy that tells a story of love, struggle, and justice. Ajaya and his wife Prabha move to Kathmandu, where Ajaya starts working as a teacher. Later, his sister Gita joins them and enrolls in the same college. There, she meets a kind and charming student, but trouble arises when Madhav, a troublesome student, also starts liking her. One day, a fight breaks out in the college, and when Gita tries to stop it, an inspector arrives and brings the situation under control. Angered by this, Madhav and his group cause harm to Prabha and Gita. They also try to escape punishment through legal means. With no strong evidence, Ajaya takes a stand and challenges the court. In the end, he decides to take justice into his own hands, leading to a tragic ending where the inspector, fulfilling his duty, stops Ajaya. Chunauti is a story of love, courage, and sacrifice in the face of injustice.

Con la nuova produzione di Tosca nell’edizione critica di Roger Parker per Ricordi il Direttore Musicale Riccardo Chailly continua il percorso di presentazione delle opere di Giacomo Puccini alla luce delle ricerche musicologiche più recenti, con cui ha già riportato alla Scala Turandot, La fanciulla del West, Madama Butterfly e Manon Lescaut. Se nel corso dei decenni l’opera di Gioachino Rossini e Giuseppe Verdi è stata ripensata grazie alle edizioni critiche e all’esame delle varianti, i capolavori di Giacomo Puccini sono stati finora presentati in versioni che recavano spesso inconsapevolmente le incrostazioni della tradizione. Di qui l’importanza della proposta: ma questa Tosca inaugurale sarà innanzitutto una festa della musica, grazie anche alle voci superbe di Anna Netrebko, Francesco Meli e Luca Salsi, e del teatro con il ritorno di Davide Livermore, già applauditissimo per Attila il 7 dicembre 2018, che si avvarrà delle scene di Giò Forma.
