Capitalism at Crossroad Street

This is the 3rd film in almost 30 years about the daily lives of the people living in this small street of Pārdaugava. We first met them in the late 1980s when the Soviet Union was on the brink of collapse. We visited them again in the wild 1990s. And now we meet them in 2013, again in a whole different world.

Nina

Nina, a 13-year-old pickpocket with a sharp and wise look, is checking the content of a man's wallet she has just stolen. She is staring at the unknown family pictures with curiosity and sadness - A little later, Nina is captured in her next attempt to steal. Surprisingly, the victim Yana refuses to surrender Nina to the police and decides to pay a little attention to the girl, taking her lunch.

When she arrives she gets a bump on the head which brings on a form of amnesia and she begins to believe she is the author of the book. Hijinks and adventures follow.

Under an Umbrella

Dong Won is a down-and-out artist who suffers from despair and dissatisfaction and suicidal tendencies. During a trip to Sorak mountain, he tries to kill himself. He falls in love with Sun Hee, the cabin owner's daughter. For a short time, he experiences true love. But they break up because of Sun Hee's mother. Dong Won becomes a fork crane driver but cannot escape his unhappiness. One day, he travels to Sorak mountain and meets Sun Hee and their son.

Sister Talia, about to take her perpetual vows, learns of her friend Thuy's death and discovers that another friend, Trang, is possessed by a demon. Using her ability as a medium, Talia exorcises the demon and helps Detective Oh investigate a series of chain suicides. They uncover that Thuy's mother, Chao, a shaman from Vietnam, uses a curse called "Go" to drive people to suicide. When Talia learns Chao plans to pass the curse onto Thuy's daughter Jin, she decides to sacrifice herself by taking the curse into her own body. As she prepares for her fate, Talia is confronted with an unexpected truth.

Out of work swing band maneuvers a gig working for a political campaign, by drawing in and entertaining prospective voters at rallies. Meanwhile, romance blossoms between the band's singers. When election day approaches, the band's singer wants out of the campaign, but the machine threatens to smear him and his pals in the band if he quits.

Jethro Tull: Living With The Past

A veritable feast awaits fans of Ian Anderson's Jethro Tull on this elaborate DVD package, which boasts extensive concert footage and a load of extras. The focal point is nearly two hours of performances, filmed in late 2001 (primarily in London, with additional material from several other locations) and featuring material from the band's entire lengthy career, including such staples as "Aqualung" and "Bouree." The current Tull incarnation (featuring, as always, Anderson on vocals, flute, and sundry other instruments) takes center stage; there are also a couple of numbers with a string quartet, and even a small-club reunion of the lineup that made the group's very first album back in 1968.
