La straordinaria fuga dal campo 7A

Prigioniero di guerra, nello zoo di Monaco Stephen Brooks deve curarsi di Lucy, un'elefantessa, e le si affeziona a tal punto che, avutane l'occasione, rinuncia a fuggire. Dovendo trasferire Lucy a Innsbruck, Stephen viaggia con due militari e una giovane cuoca. Lungo la strada, Brooks sopprime un soldato della scorta che minacciava di uccidere Lucy, poi decide di raggiungere la Svizzera valicando i monti insieme all'animale. L'originalità del soggetto trabocca nell'eccesso, e il film diventa stucchevole. Uno dei classici colossi semiseri e strampalati che si producevano nel periodo.

Scott cui non si possono peraltro negare il mestiere e le capacità tecniche dimostrate in centinaia di spot il merito è della sceneggiatura di Quentin Tarantino che allora aveva dato prova del suo talento solo con Le iene. Una galleria di ottimi birbanti, tra cui spicca l'intemerato gigionismo di Hopper e Walken.
