Vigilantes of Boomtown

The ranch of Red Ryder (Allan Lane) and his aunt, The Duchess (Martha Wentworth), is being used as the training site for "Gentleman Jim" Corbett (George Turner) for his upcoming fight in Carson City, Nevada for the heavyweight championship against Bob Fitzsimmons (John Dehner). Molly McVey (Peggy Stewart), the daughter of a U.S. Senator, crusading against prize-fighting in Nevada, complicates matters soemwhat when she conceives the bright idea of having Corbett kidnapped, thus causing the cancellation of the fight. The two men (George Chesebro and George Lloyd) she hires to do the kidnapping also add to the complications by kidnapping Ryder instead of Corbett. Meanwhile, a gang of crooks, led by McKean (Roy Barcroft), descend on the town intent on looting the town and also making off with the fight proceeds.

L’australiano Mike Rheinberger mette in cantiere una settima spedizione con l’amico operatore Mark Wethu per documentare finalmente la realizzazione del suo sogno: arrivare sulla vetta più alta del mondo. Raggiunto lo scopo i due alpinisti si accorgono di non poter ridiscendere al campo base e pertanto decidono di bivaccare in modo precario e in condizioni di tempo proibitive poco sotto la cima. Il giorno seguente Mike non è più in condizioni fisiche per continuare la discesa nonostante l’impegno e gli sforzi dell’amico di cordata. Mark, al limite delle forze, viene persuaso via radio dal capo della spedizione a raggiungere da solo la base e salvare così la propria vita. Dopo due anni di cure e una drastica operazione ai piedi, incapace di dimenticare la perdita dell’amico, Mark ritorna nel Tibet e sale in vetta al Cho-Oyu, la sesta montagna più alta del mondo, da dove può chiaramente vedere l’Everest e salutare così ancora una volta l’amico.
