Coldplay at the BBC

Coldplay showcased several tracks from their new album in an open-air concert at the BBC Television Centre in London. The gig – broadcast live on BBC Two – featured new material such as 'Violet Hill' and '42', alongside old favorites including 'Clocks', 'Fix You' and 'In My Place'. The band left the main stage briefly to perform an acoustic version of 'Yellow' against the backdrop of the Television Centre building. The gig ended with a rousing version of 'Lovers in Japan' that involved showering the crowd with thousands of paper butterflies.

La Condizione Umana: Parte I – Nessun amore è più grande

Seconda guerra mondiale. Profondamente animato da uno spirito umanitario e pacifista, Kaji spera così di evitare di dover andare soldato ma al tempo stesso si augura di riuscire a contribuire al miglioramento delle condizioni di vita dei prigionieri. Anche in questo settore nascono ben presto rivalità tra una banda e l'altra e a farne le spese è il giovane Kinta che viene accusato di un omicidio non commesso. Kinta uccide allora selvaggiamente gli ex compagni e muore a sua volta, ucciso da un poliziotto.

Liz e l'uccellino azzurro

Mizore e Nozomi sono due amiche con personalità differenti; la prima è infatti estremamente introversa, mentre la seconda è popolare e benvoluta da tutti. Le due ragazze, che suonano rispettivamente un oboe e un flauto, si trovano in seguito a dover duettare un brano intitolato Liz e l'uccellino azzurro, che presenta numerosi punti in comune con il loro rapporto d'amicizia.

Al montaggio il film fu modificato dalla produzione che vi appiccicò un finale di bombardamento che distruggeva tutta l'isola. Il messaggio pacifista è appesantito da un impianto allegorico, ma non sono molti i registi che come Boorman sanno mettere in immagini il rapporto dell'uomo con la natura selvaggia.

Miyamoto Musashi

Takezo parte con il suo amico Matahachi e si schiera con l'esercito di Mitsunari Ishida nella grande battaglia di Sekigahara. Per Takezo è solo l'inizio di una serie di avventure che lo porteranno a scontrarsi con tutto il suo villaggio e quasi a morire se non fosse per l'amore di Otsu, che lo salva dalla prigionia e per la magnanimità del monaco Takuan, suo mentore, che lo riabilita facendolo diventare un samurai con il nome di Musashi Miyamoto. Musashi scopre così il peso dei doveri di un Samurai e pur di viaggiare e fare esperienza lascia Otsu ad aspettarlo senza certezza di ritorno.

Samurai 2 - Duello al tempio Ichijoji

Musashi impara a dominare i suoi impulsi, a trattenere la forza per lasciar crescere la saggezza interiore. Forte degli insegnamenti del monaco Takuan Soho, matura dentro di sé la consapevolezza di non esser esclusivamente un uomo brutale nella lotta e nei modi, pur conservando dentro di sé la sensibilità dello spirito idealista.Takezo era il ragazzo cresciuto all'ombra di un padre, valoroso samurai ma genitore impietoso, con la necessità di dover dimostrare il doppio del coraggio di una persona normale per conquistarne la stima. Musashi è il guerriero solitario che inizia un percorso ascetico quasi per caso, o forse costretto dalla necessità.
