Tanti grossi nomi prestano il loro volto all'amico Jarmusch, in un carosello di personaggi che hanno in comune tre cose: fumano, bevono caffè e parlano di cose assolutamente prive di senso. La palma d'oro per il dialogo più improbabile a Tom Waits e Iggy Pop, due tra gli individui più "storti" e indispensabili del nostro tempo. Per quanti condividono e vivono l'idea che caffè+sigarette sia il matrimonio più riuscito di sempre, potrebbe diventare un vero manifesto.

Domenico lascia la Brianza e si reca in città per trovare il tanto desiderato posto fisso. Una grande azienda ha indetto un concorso per alcuni posti di impiegato. Domenico passa le prove e gli viene proposto inizialmente il ruolo di aiuto-usciere. Nonostante non sia esattamente l'incarico sperato, accetta. Intanto Domenico incontra nuovamente Antonietta, una ragazza conosciuta alle selezioni. Lei lo invita alla festa di Capodanno aziendale, ma poi non si presenta. Domenico ci rimane male, ma il giorno dopo si rincuora: a causa della morte di uno dei dipendenti, la sua carriera da impiegato sta per iniziare. Gli vengono date una divisa e una scrivania tutta sua.

After every single trial resulted in nothing because of the islanders’ secret meddling, Jorg’s trip becomes elongated, like The Odyssey’s, forcing him to contemplate the priorities and responsibilities in life again.

Captain Kate

Two caravans meet on the desert, one headed by Howell and Clancy, two New York men, who are gathering animals for circus purposes, the other is led by an old animal tamer named Desmond and his beautiful daughter, whom the natives have nicknamed Capt. Kate. After exchanging cards, the caravans go their separate ways. Desmond is stricken and dies, leaving Kate alone. She assumes her father's perilous business, leading her party of native hunters after big game. Later, one of the hunters is stricken and the superstitious followers of Capt. Kate, recognizing the nature of the disease, abandon the hunt and their leader, one servant alone remaining faithful to his mistress. Kate, realizing that she can go no further without assistance, calls a halt and they erect a crude hut in which she is to live, while the servant goes in search of Clancy. Scene of Kate's isolated life and her dangers follow. She is besieged by wild animals, who make her life a long nightmare of peril.
