Biography: Nice to meet you! I'm Casper (no, not like the beloved ghost of the 90's) and I am one of the two directors (as well as the editor, foley artist, lighting designer, the annoying, whiny hick, and co-writer, but those aren't as cool sounding!) on How to Fix Radios. I grew up with a love of film, television, books, and storytelling in general and was able to put these passions to use when I joined the Studio LC program at LCVI with most of the other folks on our crew. As a queer person, I found myself, like many others, frustrated with the lack of an extensive catalogue of LGBTQ+ characters and media to relate to (although they're definitely out there, but the extent doesn't seem to be broad enough) and specifically, saw very few stories that were anything like what I was going through. So I made it my mission to make those stories, and help in any way I can to assist others in making their own as well. Around a year ago (2020), I started to formulate the idea for How to Fix Radios, and with the help of my friend Emily Russell, began to write the script for the film. The rest is history!

How to Fix Radios

In a decaying rural community in Southern Ontario, Evan, an isolated, narrow-minded teen starts a new job at a run down, decrepit bait shop that is being primed to be sold as land for a sub-division. Upon arriving for his first shift, Evan discovers that his supervisor is the pink haired, outspoken Ross. Through their tedious job the two slowly grow closer, and Evan happens upon Ross' rich but strenuous inner world, involving himself, his sister, and the shadowy figure of his boss' ultra macho son. As a result, Evan's worldview and biases are challenged as he navigates the cataclysmic changes happening in his small town.
