Biography: Madeleine Sackler founded Great Curve Films in 2009 and has been directing, editing and producing films for over a decade. In 2018, she released two films which focus on life inside a maximum-security prison, both available on HBO. O.G. is a drama fiction film starring Jeffrey Wright and Theothus Carter, and It’s A Hard Truth Ain’t It is a documentary made with 13 incarcerated men. The documentary has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Arts and Culture Documentary category.

It is co-directed by thirteen men incarcerated at the Pendleton Correctional Facility in Pendleton, Indiana. Given unprecedented access to a maximum security prison, filmmaker Madeleine Sackler worked with a group of inmates to tell their own stories, giving rise to this collaborative, intimate documentary project.
