Oasis: MTV Unplugged

In August of 1996, Oasis, riding high from the overwhelming success of their first two albums Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, were to perform on the hit MTV series Unplugged. However (as was often the case), problems arose within the band, namely between the most well known members of the group, Noel and Liam Gallagher. An argument began between the two brothers, ultimately ending with Liam bowing out of the concert. The idea of postponing, or cancelling the show outright, was discussed, but thankfully, Noel decided to go ahead and sing lead vocals. What some initially thought of as a potential disaster ended up as a brilliant performance from Oasis sans Liam, and for the first time, gave the entire world a good look at what Noel could do.

Oasis: Definitely Maybe

Where were you at the start of 1994? This was going to be the year it would all change, it was parkas, shades, a sense of celebration. Oasis were the backing for all those lost nights in and mad nights out. Definitely Maybe was as Noel says "what was missing in a lot of people's lives". Oasis Knebworth 1996 (Sunday Night)

On 10th and 11th August 1996, 250,000 young music fans converged on Knebworth Park to see Oasis play two record breaking, era defining shows. This version, included on the 'Oasis: Knebworth 1996' Blu-Ray/DVD, was shot on the 11th and was remastered in 2021.

Live By the Sea is Oasis in their earlier days. Playing at a small venue at Southend Cliffs Oasis play 16 of their own songs and close their show with a mesmerizing cover of 'I am the Walrus' by the Beatles. They play nearly all their songs from their record-breaking debut album 'Definitely Maybe' and throw in a few b-sides for good measure. This is rock 'n' roll at its finest.

Oasis - Maine Road Second Night

April 27 and 28 1996 saw Oasis headline their first ever stadium shows. Fittingly, they took place at Maine Road, then home to Liam and Noel Gallagher’s Manchester City FC. This is the second night of those, now legendary gigs.
