Zidane is, according to the BBC, the best European player in history. He was named the best European player of the last fifty years by UEFA in 2004. He was cited among the 125 best players in the world still alive in 2004, in a joint ranking by Pelé and FIFA. He was named best world player of the year by FIFA three times, in 1998, 2000 and 2003, and won the 1998 Ballon d'Or. While Real Madrid has nothing left to gain in 2018-2019, president Florentino Perez calls on Zinédine Zidane. Under his leadership, Real won its 34th Spanish championship title at the end of the 2019-2020 season and then its 11th Spanish Super Cup. He then won numerous titles including a championship and especially the Champions League three times in a row, an unprecedented feat for a coach. After leaving his post at the end of the 2017-2018 season, he was recalled to the post of coach in March 2019 by president Florentino Pérez and won a second Liga in 2020.
