When Tu’an Gu learns of the baby’s escape he seizes every infant in the city, vowing to kill them all unless the Zhao baby is surrendered. As the tyrant’s soldiers arrive at Cheng Ying’s home the frantic doctor hides his wife with their own baby whilst surrendering the Zhao child as his own. But his family is discovered; his baby is presumed to be the Zhao heir and murdered along with his wife for harboring the infant. Now set on revenge Cheng Ying enrolls the Zhao orphan into the service of the Tu’an Gu household, plotting to use him as an instrument of vengeance when he comes of age.

Lorraine is a young novelist who has been suffering from severe headaches, nightmares and occasional short-term memory loss from a car accident. Daily medication has become a part of her life. One day, a plane crash kills Lorraine’s husband Kenny. Not long after the accident, a call made by Kenny’s cell phone startles Lorraine. On the other side of the line is a man named Ben. His fiancée Lynn was killed in the same plane crash. Kenny’s cell phone was put into Lynn’s remains by mistake. Out of curiosity, Ben checks out Kenny’s phone and finds evidence which leads him to believe that Kenny and Lynn were having an affair and were planning to run away together to a small town called X. Their sudden departure leaves Lorraine and Ben with a lot of unanswered questions. They decide to travel to X, an eventful journey with terrifying things in stall for them.

Chengming, a university student who accidentally gains supernatural powers, finds out that he loses his memory every time he uses them and starts recording his daily life using his phone. Chengming and the witnesses of his accident, Lin and Hwei, grow closer together as they experiment with Chengming's supernatural powers. Chengming starts falling in love with Lin but gets anxious when he finds out that she is from a wealthy family, unlike his own background. Chengming realizes that his superpowers are not adding any value to his life when he is persuaded by Hwei to invade the factory owner that hurt his mother. He heads over to the factory solely relying on Hwei's camera.
