From the mean streets of the Belleville district of Paris to the dazzling limelight of New York's most famous concert halls, Edith Piaf's life was a constant battle to sing and survive, to live and love. Raised in her grandmother's brothel, Piaf was discovered in 1935 by nightclub owner Louis Leplee, who persuaded her to sing despite her extreme nervousness. Piaf became one of France's immortal icons, her voice one of the indelible signatures of the 20th century.

The Connection

Newly transferred to the bustling port city of Marseille to assist with a crackdown on organized crime, energetic young magistrate Pierre Michel is given a rapid-fire tutorial on the ins and outs of an out-of-control drug trade. The Revelations 2014

Every year since 2007, the Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques highlights thirty-two young talents through the “Révélations” project, directed this year by Antoine Carlier. This talented and visionary photographer was able to magnify each of them by offering an elegant and very cinematic staging, through the lens of his camera.
