A portrait of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s young adulthood, set in the 1940s and 50s, in the electric capital city of Santiago. There, he decides to become a poet and is introduced, by destiny, into the foremost bohemian and artistic circle of the time.

The Dance of Reality

“Having broken away from my illusory self, I was desperately seeking a path and a meaning to life.” This phrase perfectly sums up Alejandro Jodorowsky’s biographical project: reconstituting the incredible adventure of his life. Alejandro Jodorowsky was born in 1929 in Tocopilla, a coastal town on edge of the Chilean desert, where this film was shot. It was there where he discovered the fundamentals of reality, as he underwent an unhappy and alienated childhood as part of an uprooted family.

Last Call

Three apartments in an old converted loft building set the stage for three bizarre love triangles. Nico, enjoys his older brother's top floor loft, while he is away on business. Downstairs, Helena, prepares for a dinner with her lover, who never shows up. In the basement, three expatriates are waiting for a phone call. A Chilean contact is supposed to instruct them to carry out a dirty job.

Letters from Santiago

One day before her 18th birthday, Laura Hellmer finds out by chance that her mother Katharina, a renowned political journalist, has lied to her for years: Laura's father was not a Spanish war photographer who died before she was born, but probably lives and is in Chile. Without further ado, Laura sets off for South America to find her true father. While she is in Santiago following in the footsteps of her mother, who once reported on the victims of the Pinochet dictatorship, Katharina travels to her daughter.

Prison in the Andes

Brutal torturers of Pinochet's dictatorship are serving sentence in a luxury prison at the foot of the Andes. Fearing of transferring to a regular jail, the officers will go to great lengths to stay fury and violence in the mountains.

The Summer of Flying Fish

Manena is the headstrong adolescent daughter of Pancho, a rich Chilean landowner who devotes his vacation to one thing : the invasion of his artificial lagoon by carps. While he employs increasingly radical methods, Manena has her first romantic experiences and hearbreak - and discovers a silent world in the shadow of her own : that of the Mapuche Indians who demand access to the land and clash with her father.
