When You Hear the Bells

In Afghanistan, "batchas" are young male prostitutes who live under the protection of a master in a house where they are trained to dance dressed as girls for a men's audience. Veteran dancer Saman starts worrying when he sees Bijane, the new recruit, who has been chosen to replace him. Despite his jealousy, he must initiate Bijane into the art of the Batcha dancing.

The Food on the Table

Now the subjects of a despotic chief, far from having any favor to expect from him, as both themselves and all they have are his property, or at least are considered by him as such, are obliged to receive as a favor what he relinquishes to them of their own property. The short film "The minor order" was created by the CityFilm Productions team in memory of the train accident in the area of Tempe, Greece on Tuesday 28/02/2023. In the film we live the perspective of a relative of a victim, on the day of the tragedy, as well as a year after it. Our purpose is to never let the memory of the crime of Tempe be forgotten. Finally, we feel the need to help in any way we can in bringing real justice to this case, hoping that we are passing a certain message through our creation.

Moby Dick

Moby Dick is an unfinished film by Orson Welles, filmed in 1971. It is not to be confused with the incomplete (and now lost) 1955 film Welles made of his meta-play Moby Dick—Rehearsed, or with Moby Dick (1956 film), in which Welles played a supporting role. The film consists of readings by Welles from the book Moby Dick, shot against a blue background with various optical illusions to give the impression of being at sea. It was made during a break in the filming of The Other Side of the Wind. There is some ambiguity about what Welles intended to do with the footage, and how he was going to compile it. It remained unedited in his lifetime.

Umberto D.

When elderly pensioner Umberto Domenico Ferrari returns to his boarding house from a protest calling for a hike in old-age pensions, his landlady demands her 15,000-lire rent by the end of the month or he and his small dog will be turned out onto the street. Unable to get the money in time, Umberto fakes illness to get sent to a hospital, giving his beloved dog to the landlady's pregnant and abandoned maid for temporary safekeeping.

Founded in 2007, the Wish Ambulance Foundation continues to work to ensure that terminal patients with limited time can say goodbye to life in a “good” way. Today, the foundation fulfills the last wishes of people of all ages with limited time to live. Frank Halter, a retired policeman who work as a volunteer for the foundation, has been part of this voluntary work for 6 years. The Good Death focuses on the last wishes of Wim Beuving, a terminally ill man with limited time left, and his meeting with Frank Halter, who volunteers to make these wishes come true.

Robin Hood

Robin Hood is a 1912 film made by Eclair Studios when it and many other early film studios in America's first motion picture industry were based in Fort Lee, New Jersey at the beginning of the 20th century. The movie's costumes feature enormous versions of the familiar hats of Robin and his merry men, and uses the unusual effect of momentarily superimposing images different animals over each character to emphasize their good or evil qualities. The film was directed by Étienne Arnaud and Herbert Blaché, and written by Eustace Hale Ball. A restored copy of the 30-minute film exists and was exhibited in 2006 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
