Amateur filmmaker Kemal Mutlu captures scenes of everyday life with plans of making a film. He lives with his housemate Nuri in a small flat in Istanbul. One day,Nuri's friend from orphanage, Izzet, comes to visit unannounced. Just out of prison, Izzet's colorful character grabs Kemal's attention, and he decides to make a film about him. Unfortunately, it soon turns out that underneath his friendly exterior, Izzet is a psychopath. When he is refused entry into a bar, he gets in by force and kidnaps actress Oznur Kula. Kemal is happy to have found an actress to star in his film, however things soon get out of control as Izzet's sick plans unfold.

Summer to Come

The film homes in on a relatively taboo subject which also seems to be a rising phenomenon in recent years: teenage suicide. Written by the director, the story revolves around a class of high schoolers who are attending a summer camp. Restless 18-year-old Milán is preparing his very own showdown. A love triangle is forming between himself, Anna and Dani. The tension mounts during a hike, at the end of which the three of them are sent home. The question of their feelings remains unresolved, and the showdown never happens. One year later, following graduation, the camp takes place once again. Almost 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union we can observe the return of rhetoric of a strong person of the totalitarian era. Could this be facilitated by the remains of totalitarian subservience in our heads and minds? The Director of the film Ivo Briedis and journalist Rita Ruduša, both born in the USSR, are going on a journey to explore the phenomenon of “Homo Sovieticus” and to discover whether a human being of the totalitarian mindset has specific geographical boundaries.
