China Is Still Far

On November 1, 1954, near Ghassira, a small village lost in the Aurès, a couple of French teachers and an Algerian boss were the first civilian victims of a seven-year war which would lead to the independence of Algeria. More than fifty years later, Malek Bensmaïl returns to this Chaoui village, which has become “the cradle of the Algerian revolution”, to film, throughout the seasons, its inhabitants, its school and its children.

Abduction and death

Argentina, the 70’s. One morning, several armed young men, dressed in military uniform, kidnap a Senior Army General and hide him in a modest cottage. There, without the hostage’s awareness of either the reason for his imprisonment or the people who planned it, the young kidnappers subject him to summary trial. In subsequent days, the military man will respond to an interrogation as severe as precise, that will lay bare the tense contradiction between two political and moral ideologies so incompatible that destruction surely awaits one of the opposite fields. The ending unveils a new chapter of a contemporary drama.

As they are leaving the church following their wedding, Count Adrian Beltrami and Countess Anna-Marie are told that the Austrians are marching on the town to quell an Italian uprising. The bride and relatives induce the count to flee to his castle, but Tangy, a silhouette cutter, brings word from the revolutionary committee asking him to return; the count goes, asking Tangy to pose as the count and protect Anna-Marie.

Without Her

Jorge Colon's SIN ELLA shows us how much a family member can guide the values and lives of the others, even when absent. Set in present-day Mexico City, the story follows Gastón (Luis Roberto Guzmán, in a striking performance different from his action-man TV roles), a successful TV producer who has to learn how to be a good dad for his teenage daughter and younger son after an accident, which challenges the family not only to cope with the pain of the tragedy but also to improve their lives. With outstanding performances by all cast members and an attractive soundtrack, this drama and its dose of magical realism are bound to make its audience reconsider what family truly means.

Gojira: The Flesh Alive

The French heavy metal band captured live at Garorock, Bordeaux and Les Vieilles Charrues. The band are renowned for their environmentally-friendly lyrics and have carved a niche for themselves in modern metal. As well as footage of the band in performance, a documentary is also included that provides an insight into the off-stage lives of the band members and the influences that go into their music.

Vishwanath

An honest lawyer, Vishwanath is implicated and imprisoned at the behest of powerful underworld don, GNK and his associates. After his release from prison, Vishwanath decides to seek vengeance, but finds out that it is virtually impossible to do this through due process of law. So he decides to change his identity, hire a gang of crooks and assassins, to carry out his vendetta. Not realizing that in doing this he is alienating himself from the love of his life, Soni; and making himself a wanted man by the police, leaving his crippled sister, Munni and mom, Shanti to fend for themselves, and at the mercy of GNK and his associates.

Seo-yeon is being tutored by Woo-hyeon who is younger than her. She grew interested in her tutor, Woo-hyun, the first time she met him, and he is also fond of Seo-yeon. Seo-yeon succeeded in seducing Woo-hyeon with the help of her friend Min-joo. Even if Min-joo is aware of what Seo-yeon feels, she approaches Woo-hyeon. Seo-yeon gets mad at her best friend when she met Woo-hyeon. Min-joo, aware of the fact that it's her faultis also angered by Seo-yeon's appearance and tells her to meet Jeong-soo, her friend. Seo-yeon is also angry and tells Min-joo that she have to meet Jeong-soo as well. A bittersweet story about a man who is a very close friend is just about to start.

A Dangerous Summer

Building is Howard's passion, and he is so absorbed in his plans to build an elaborate resort in the Blue Mountains of Australia that he ignores certain obvious signals that his business partner is not entirely on the up-and-up. After a brush fire destroys the resort, an insurance investigator comes nosing around, whom Howard's partner deals with in a drastic manner. By the time Lloyds of London's senior investigator George Engels (James Mason in one of his last roles) arrives on the scene, Howard (Tom Skerritt) is anxious to set things to rights.
