Documentary broadcast by the BBC on 15 November 1994, produced at the time of "The Division Bell" tour. The rest is focused on the band's history with Waters. The documentary not only features interviews with all three members of Pink Floyd at the time, but also includes interesting interviews with several people closely related to the band: Andrew King, Joe Boyd, Mike Leonard, Storm Thorgerson, Ron Geesin, Clare Torry , Douglas Adams, and others. It also contains rare archive footage, such as extracts from 1968's "Tomorrow's World" programme and a very original film showing the band recording for the song "Marooned" in David Gilmour's studio-boat, the Astoria, with Bob Ezrin playing bass in this session.

Status and Terrain

When first viewing Zustand und Gelände, we might be under the impression it belongs to a well-known tradition of historical documentaries. Long shots, extremely slow all-round views, steady panning: the image patiently describes a series of urban sites and landscapes of the former German Democratic Republic (Saxony and Thuringia). Through highly elaborate arrangements of archives from different sources (police reports, survivors’ testimonies, administrative correspondence, and more), an o -screen voice establishes what these places set the stage for in March 1933: the Nazi concentration system and an elimination regime of all political opposition. Especially noteworthy, in this film, is the extremely attentive channelling towards still unknown times and geographies of the horror Hitler inflicted on the first victims: people with sympathies for communism, activists, trade unionists, socio-democratic journalists, and so on.

At the Edge of the Earth

On 17 May 1931, the young director Mário Peixoto released his masterpiece "Limite" in a premiere in Capitólio Theater in Rio de Janeiro to astonished audiences bewildered by the impressive and poetic images. Considered by many viewers the best Brazilian movie ever made, this feature has never been released commercially. However, in a great paradox, Mário Peixoto has never made any other movie. The director Sérgio Machado pays a great tribute to the life and work Mário Peixoto a.k.a. Maçarico by his close friends with this documentary, using his diary; footages of "Limite", the never concluded "Onde a Terra Acaba" (1933) and the short "O Homem do Morcego" (1980); and interesting testimonies of Olga Breno, Ruy Solberg, Nelson Pereira dos Santos and Walter Salles among others.
