On Saturday, 5 April 1941, one day before the Invasion of Yugoslavia of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, a colourful group of random passengers on a country road deep in the heart of Serbia board a dilapidated bus, headed for the capital Belgrade. The group includes two gypsy musicians, a World War I veteran, a Germanophile, a budding singer, a sickly looking man, and a hunter with a shotgun. The bus is owned by Krstic senior, and driven by his impressionable and dim-witted son Misko.

When I Grow Up, I'll Be a Kangaroo

A young student Braca is trying to seduce a beautiful model Iris. Although they are from two different worlds, they both try not to show it. In another story, Šomi and Duje anxiously follow the football match between Manchester and Eastwich. They bet on Eastwich, because their childhood friend Kengur is their goalkeeper. The Swallow and the Titmouse

A Bus Came…

"A bus came..." consists of five loosely connected sketch films; the only thing that connects them is that each one is connected in some way to a bus route in Budapest. The mini-films, which are very different in mood and style, were made by Ferenc Török (Shoes), Árpád Schilling (No Comment), Viktor Bodó (Quarter Hour), György Pálfi (Táltosman vs. Ikarus) and Kornél Mundruczó (St. John of 78) with the professional and friendly support of Miklós Jancsó, who also provided the basic idea for the film.
