SSSS.GRIDMAN Grand Episode

Yuuta Hibiki wakes up in the room of Rikka Takarada and notices two things: he has no memories, and he can hear a mysterious voice calling his name from a nearby room. On further inspection, he finds a robot—which introduces itself as Hyper Agent Gridman—behind the screen of an old computer. Much to Yuuta's surprise, Rikka cannot hear Gridman, nor can she see the ominous monsters looming over a thick fog as it envelopes the town outside. Another giant monster materializes in the city and proceeds to wreak havoc. Amidst the confusion, Yuuta is once again drawn to the old computer and merges with Gridman. Suddenly, he appears in the middle of the battle and is forced to fight the monster. DAN DA DAN: Evil Eye

When they arrive, strange locals derail their investigation before it can properly begin, and the group soon learns there's more lurking under the surface of the town than they could possibly have imagined. Theatrical event featuring four episodes of the anime, including the first three episodes of the second season, and an exclusive interview with series co-directors Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Góngora.

Maison Ikkoku: Through the Passing of the Seasons

A full-length movie recap of the Maison Ikkoku series that focuses on the relationship between Godai and Kyoko. The entire special is taken from footage of the TV series.

Tom and Jerry: Hijinks and Shrieks

The chase continues as Tom the cat pursues Jerry the mouse through seven vintage cartoons. William Hanna and Joseph Barbera directed the best of these: "The Flying Cat" (1952); "Missing Mouse" (1953); "Two Little Indians" (1953); the Oscar-nominated "Touché, Pussy Cat" (1954); and "The Flying Sorceress" (1956). The latter finds Tom tormenting his rodent nemesis from the air after borrowing a magic broom of a witch voiced by June Foray -- a.k.a. Rocky of Rocky & Bullwinkle -- among others. While the mayhem quotient is still high, these are less violent than the duo's 1940 cartoons. This collection also includes two lesser cartoons directed by Chuck Jones, "Is There a Doctor in the House?" (1964) and "Haunted Mouse" (1965).

Shakugan no Shana: The Movie

The movie is more or less a retelling of the first few episodes of the series that is not much more than a slightly padded director's cut. You do learn some interesting details such as where Yugi's dad is, a look at the flame haze who was in the city before Shana, and even a couple of new powers for the Reiji Maigo. The story is certainly fleshed out quite a bit more and the final 15 minutes of the film comprise a surprisingly powerful conclusion (worth the price of admission on its own), but I would have liked a more original story rather then a highly polished version of one that I've already enjoyed. In the end, spectacular visuals, great new music, and well thought out additions to the core story leave you feeling glad to have seen the film. On the other hand, the fact that anything new that was added obviously doesn't change the events that come later in the series means that established fans will likely leave the experience less than satisfied.
