Kim Il Sung's Children

Understanding North Korea in the 1950s is an important way to understand North Korea at present.

Dear Pyongyang

Dear Pyongyang is a documentary film by Zainichi Korean director Yang Yong-hi (Korean: 양영희, Hanja: 梁英姬) about her own family. It was shot in Osaka Japan (Yang's hometown) and Pyongyang, North Korea, In the 1970s, Yang's father, an ardent communist and leader of the pro-North movement in Japan, sent his three sons from Japan to North Korea under a repatriation campaign sponsored by ethnic activist organisation and de facto North Korean embassy Chongryon; as the only daughter, Yang herself remained in Japan. However, as the economic situation in the North deteriorated, the brothers became increasingly dependent for survival on the care packages sent by their parents. The film shows Yang's visits to her brothers in Pyongyang, as well as conversations with her father about his ideological faith and his regrets over breaking up his family.

Middle daughter Yi-Hwa loves Tetsuo and marries him, but Tetsuo still loves her older sister and they divorce. Youngest daughter Mi-Hwa wants to become a singer, but she is in love with a married man.

Dream Island Girl

A boy rescues a girl who has collapsed in a river and looks after her. The girl reminisces about her lonely days in Tokyo and her hometown by the sea where she lived with her grandmother, and the girl's presence becomes a source of emotional support for the boy. One day, the girl disappears from the boy's sight. A beautiful poem woven together with images that reflect the boy's delicate inner life and Pachelbel's Canon. Sachiyo Nakao plays the girl, full of translucence, and thereafter becomes the muse in Sasaki's works.

Godzilla vs. Megaguirus

In an alternate timeline the original Godzilla is never defeated and repeatedly reemerges to feed on Japan's energy sources. In his latest film, Shirome, Stardust Promotion's relatively new pop idol unit Momoiro Clover star as a group of girls who enter an old abandoned school hoping to have their wishes granted by a spirit called Shirome. The girls initially had no clue they were being filmed for a movie at all. Instead, they were told that they were being filmed for an upcoming television show exploring haunted locations. The result is a faux documentary style in the same vein as "The Blair Witch Project" and "Paranormal Activity".
