Guns N’ Roses: Live In New York 1991

Filmed at the legendary Ritz in 1991, this concert was one of three rehearsal “club” dates for the tour that would ultimately divide the band, and it took place at the 1,400-person-or-so-capacity Ritz. Rose tells the crowd he doesn’t like showing up to rehearsals (shocker) so this was his warmup, but he nevertheless delivers an impressive, throat-shredding performance throughout, even after injuring a leg mid-gig. He even sounds like he’s having fun. He does the Cool Hand Luke “failure to communicate” monologue himself in “Civil War,” which also features Slash riffing on Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child (Slight Return).”

Ayreon: Electric Castle Live And Other Tales

Over four nights at Tilburg's 013 venue (scene of the Ayreon Universe series of live shows in 2017) Lucassen, his band and one of modern progressive music's most emphatic of casts celebrated the 20th anniversary of the third Ayreon album in front of thousands of adoring fans who had flown in from around the world. The entire album was performed live, featuring original album singers and musicians, such as Thijs Van Leer, Fish, Damian Wilson, Edward Reekers, Anneke van Giersbergen, and several special guests including Simone Simons (Epica) and Star Trek's John De Lancie as narrator. I Heard a Voice is the first live DVD from AFI that was released on December 12, 2006. The concert was filmed at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California on Friday, September 15, 2006. Part of the Decemberunderground Tour, the crowd was the largest AFI had ever headlined with over 13,000 people in attendance. The title of this DVD is lifted from a line of poetry in the decemberunderground CD booklet. Underneath the song 37mm, it says: "The power went out. I turned on the radio. The power went out. I turned on the radio. The power went out. I turned on the radio....I heard a voice." The moth on the case is also from the decemberunderground booklet.

In November 2017, The Dresden Dolls played three sold-out shows commemorating the 40th Anniversary of The Paradise Rock Club, a venue deeply tied to the band, which notably hosted their debut album release in 2003, and aforementioned Live: In Paradise DVD filming amidst the Dolls’ thirty-one date tour with Nine Inch Nails, among others. Return to Paradise was filmed on November 6th, 2017, the final night of the band’s three-show run, and is a dedication to the continued love and spirit of Dresden Dolls fans, and venues like The Paradise Rock Club which play such an important role as the foundation of live music communities. Although plans for a full-scale Dresden Dolls tour have been temporarily postponed, this film shows the band doing what they love best and leaving it all on the stage.
