Anders "Anden" Matthesen's critically acclaimed stand-up show from 2000-2001. Omar Marzouk - War, terror and other funny stuff

The show “War, terror and other funny things” by comedian Omar Marzouk played to full houses in Denmark in the spring of 2005 and more than 15,000 people saw the 90-minute show, which was immortalized on DVD in Det Ny Teater. It's controversial and hilarious, and there are plenty of extras. Since then, Omar has performed to packed houses at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world's biggest comedy festival. Now that all the boring and practical stuff is out of the way, I'll tell you a bit about the show. Well, I'm not going to tell you what the show is about. You'll have to go and see it. But I can tell you a bit about how it was recorded, because it's a bit different from what you're used to. Since my shows are often very different from night to night and since I've sat in an editing room with a recording and thought; “F*ck, sh*t, that joke was much better the last time I did it”, this time I made the decision to record the show in Horsens, Odense, Aarhus and Copenhagen and cut the 4 shows together into one. Whether it was a good decision, I'll leave it up to you to judge, I'm certainly very satisfied. So all I can say is, enjoy... that is, if you pick it up.

Den Ægte Vare: Live i Cirkusbygningen

In the spring of 2002, six of Denmark's best stand-up comedians joined forces under the name Den Ægte Vare. The goal was to show the audience six different styles in the original form of stand-up - completely stripped of “borrowed” jokes and clap-friendly song numbers. Through 24 shows, Varen delivered the goods in sold-out theaters across the country. The tour ended with 3 nights in the circus building, and this recording is the first of these shows.

Men's Room

The two experienced comedians Torben Chris and Thomas Hartmann have often been accused of being male chauvinists - a baseless and unfair label... according to them. In response to the accusations, they decided in 2011 to create a show that would be what it would look like if the accusations were true. Adding mustaches and an obvious twinkle in their eye, the two comedians engage in almost two hours of complaining about women's monumental lack of logic, and it's very funny - even according to the countless women who watched the show live. Thus, www.funnyhaha.dk's (female) reviewer gave the show six stars. The show differs from the majority of stand-up shows in that Torben and Thomas are on stage together most of the time. This gives the show a special life in the form of dialog-based transitions and additions that arose as improvisation along the way. In addition to the show itself, which was recorded at Comedy ZOO in Copenhagen in October 2011, the DVD contains lots of extras.

This is my first DVD. It's a recording of my show from 2008 at Comedy Zoo in Copenhagen. It's a slightly more personal show than the others, but still wrapped in silliness, a touch of satire and a lot of stupid attitude. It was recorded January 2020 at the Bremen Theater in Copenhagen in front of an awesome audience. I'm pretty damn happy with the result, the mood, the expression, and the little frame story, so I hope you'll enjoy it.
