Gate of Youth

The story of Shinsuke, a young man who lives through a stormy life as a poverty-stricken coal miner. Ranging from Shinsuke's infanthood to his mid-teens. Coal workers and the mines dominate nearly every aspect of his life. Shinsuke's father a group leader at the mine, dies while bravely using dynamite to rescue a group of trapped Korean miners. Several older men attempt to help he and his mother cope, including a friendly Harley-riding yakuza boss. This movie has it all, drama, romance, sex, yakuza and violence! It is based on a story by Hiroyuki Itsuki that was originally serialized in the magazine Shukan Gendai in 1969-70.

Wish Taxi

In-man is a timid but caring man who creates a suicide group for his first night with his girlfriend and suggests a 'bucket list'. Strong but weak woman Ji-eun is at risk of being sold to some islands because of debt thats started with her college fees so she decides to spend a whole lot of money before she dies. Hye-ri is a bright but pained girl who gave everything to a man she loved but got nothing in return. Cho-hee is a woman who's life isn't the same after sending away everyone she ever loved. The four people alike, fulfill their 'bucket list' before they die and find hope and happiness in the process.

They Call Me Joy

When asked for her real name, the feisty woman in a rural whorehouse would quip, "Ligaya. It means joy. And that's what I sell." Yet the small-town prostitute is not resigned that she would be in the flesh trade forever. She still harbors the dream of getting out of the job someday. She saves money and fancies that someone would come and marry her as if she were clean and never been a whore. That becomes almost a reality when a hardworking farmer enters her life. Under some problematic circumstances, her chances get blown away-but not exactly of her sole doing.

A young teacher in Zurich in the 1950s falls in love with a transvestite star but is torn between his bourgeois existence and his commitment to homosexuality. He joins a gay organization that is eventually seen as the pioneer of gay emancipation in Europe.
