The Day After

In the mid-1980s, the U.S. is poised on the brink of nuclear war. This shadow looms over the residents of a small town in Kansas as they continue their daily lives. Dr. Russell Oakes maintains his busy schedule at the hospital, Denise Dahlberg prepares for her upcoming wedding, and Stephen Klein is deep in his graduate studies. When the unthinkable happens and the bombs come down, the town's residents are thrust into the horrors of nuclear winter.

Three Colors: Red

Kyklop

The short film poem KYKLOP is dedicated to a mechanical eye as an autonomous being. Round wheels and targets similar to him seem to arouse the interest of this main character. The atmosphere is thundery, thunderous. It reminds of the cyclopean thunder demons from the "Theogony" of the ancient Greek poet Hesiod. KYKLOP (2023) is another autonomous part of the film cycle by Telemach Wiesinger and Alexander Grebtschenko that began with TURBULENCE (2022) and its pairs of mechanical wings.

July Dust

“Poussières de Juillet”, produced in 1967 by Hachemi El-Chérif, is taken from a poem by Kateb Yacine. "We made a film on the return of the ashes of Emir Abdelkader, to Algeria. It was the opportunity to make a film on the ancestors with M'hamed Issiakhem. He designed glass plates on the basis of my texts. Then we had actors collaborate. It was a film which cost us a total of 300 dinars, proof that we could do work for television without too much money. We won two first international prizes at the Belgrade festival. We left the original of the film with the Egyptians in Alexandria and they lost it. We kept a copy but over time I wonder what happened to it, because there is no not even had a screening, they say it still exists, but I don't know in what state." Better Things

Gail's agoraphobia keeps her inside where she escapes into romance novels. She shares a house with her Nan, recently back from the hospital. Gradually, they both try to reach out to each other to break their isolation. Rob plunges further into his addiction as a way of numbing his heartbreak over the death of his girlfriend. In his stupor, he dreams of embracing her again. Mr & Mrs Gladwin are going through a shift in their 60 year relationship. Years of resentment and unspoken truths have built a barrier between them that Mrs Gladwin, in her abiding love, tries to erode in little gestures.

The Living and the Dead

Lord Donald and Lady Nancy reside in the magnificent but run-down Longleigh House with James, their mentally disabled adult son. He arranges for the family nurse, Mary, to take care of Nancy while he leaves to tend to the sale. However, James wants to prove to his father that he can look after his mother on his own and decides to lock Mary out of the house. It isn't long before James starts mixing his mother's pills and forgetting to take his own medication, and as the stress of looking after his mother increases, so too does the severity of his own condition.

The Motion

This experimental short film explores the reconstruction and recollection of traumatic events through fragmented memories, using a non-linear narrative and a layered visual approach. The film emphasizes the penetration of montage, with an anarchic and chaotic tone that reflects both fun and disorder. The film brings to life concerns about how a woman moves, how she speaks, dreams, and how she is stripped of her inherent qualities by a society which continues to sexualize and harmfully perceive her. It visualizes a recollection of thoughts, dreams and memories, symbolically intertwining the characters experiences of their conscious with their subconscious.

Rosewater

Atelier

A young woman comes to a remote island to get away from it all, taking refuge at a modern studio utopia. Her stay is jarringly interrupted by an acoustic installation artist. Tension between the contrasting personalities rises as differing lifestyles and expectations clash. Meanwhile nature and mysterious sheep close in on the labyrinthian house.

Inside Hope

The Protagonist misses the last evacuation flight of the doomed earth because he was too obsessed with trying to be the saviour by finding another way to save everyone without the option of evacuation. After he misses the flight, he has until tomorrow to save himself.

When Demonetization (currency ban) is announced in India, 3 unlikely characters come face to face for a bag of cash. After that a car journey begins and some more characters come into picture. This results in a cat and mouse game with a very unexpected outcome.

Kino Kopf is the first of its kind a sentient humanoid VHS camera. They are given a life by their mother but presented to the world by their father. Kino Kopf is the next big sensation and spurs a technological revolution. They are soon forgotten and alone as new models surpass them. Kino Kopf is left alone to contemplate if they ever had a soul, as visions of an electric cowboy dance through their dreams.

Porcupine

In an abandoned hospital on the outskirts of Brussels, strangers come and go while ghosts linger. Among the shards of glass, a young streamer performs a live sex show for an online subscriber. Under the same dilapidated roof, an old woman lights a fire and drinks her sorrows away in the room where her husband stayed until he died. A chance encounter between these two lonely beings will unleash a flood of memories and virtual data. But real-life connections are scarce, and mutual consolation seems a distant dream. Porcupines are said to gather on cold winter days to share body heat with their fellows, but ultimately injure each other with their quills. How is it that our slightest attempts at intimacy so often see us retreating once more into solitude?
