The Pale Blue Eye

West Point, New York, 1830. When a cadet at the burgeoning military academy is found hanged with his heart cut out, the top brass summons former New York City constable Augustus Landor to investigate. While attempting to solve this grisly mystery, the reluctant detective engages the help of one of the cadets: a strange but brilliant young fellow by the name of Edgar Allan Poe.

1873, Quito, Ecuador. One of the most recognized psychiatrists of the city, Mr. Romero, is experimenting new hypnosis techniques as a healing tool with his patients, finding out that hypnosis has never been tested in a dying human being. Valdemar, a Brazilian diplomatic who suffers tuberculosis, is willing to collaborate with Romero and agrees to be hypnotized the night he is supposed to die. The experiment will have dramatic consequences, Romero will be accused of Satanism and sentenced to death by the Ecuadorian president. His only chance of survival, is to persuade the presidents' secretary that he is innocent. He has only one chance to tell the truth.

Tales of Terror

Three stories adapted from the work of Edgar Allen Poe: 1) A man and his daughter are reunited, but the blame for the death of his wife hangs over them, unresolved. 2) A derelict challenges the local wine-tasting champion to a competition, but finds the man's attention to his wife worthy of more dramatic action. 3) A man dying and in great pain agrees to be hypnotized at the moment of death, with unexpected consequences.
