Pinocchio

The film was directed by Giuliano Cenci with assistance from his brother Renzo. During production, Carlo Collodis grandchildren Mario and Antonio Lorenzini were consulted. The subtle movements made by fidgeting children whilst speaking or under scrutiny were incorporated into Pinocchios movements, particularly when he lies to the Fairy with the Turquoise Hair over the fate of his gold coins. For the design of the Fairy, Italian portrayals of the Blessed Virgin Mary in art were used as starting points.

Cristina, the star, who embodies the Queen, reigns supreme on the set. Fascinated by this cruel woman with a disturbing charm, both powerful and vulnerable, Jeanne becomes her protege and her confidante as the trap closes in on her.

The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats

Eine Ziege hatte sieben junge Geißlein, die sie liebte, wie eine Mutter ihre Kinder nur lieben kann. Als sie eines Tages ein paar Besorgungen zu machen hatte, mussten die Kleinen ihr fest versprechen, niemandem die Tür zu öffnen. Kaum war die Mutter aus dem Haus, klopfte auch schon der böse Wolf. Doch die klugen sieben Geißlein ließen ihn nicht herein, wie ihre Mutter es ihnen aufgetragen hatte. Aber so leicht gab der Wolf nicht auf und heckte sogleich einen schlauen Plan aus, mit dem er die Geißlein überlisten und in das Haus eindringen wollte.

Rübezahl - Master of the Mountains

Seit 999 Jahre lebt der Berggeist Rübezahl tief unter der Erde im Riesengebirge. Niemand hat ihn seither gesehen. Doch als er erfährt, dass die Menschen nicht mehr an ihn glauben und dass Habgier und Ungerechtigkeit herrschen, steigt der Herr der Berge hinab ins Tal, um den Menschen mit seinen Zauberkräften eine Lektion zu erteilen. Einen Knecht, der sein altes Pferd zu Tode schindet, spannt er vor den Wagen und gibt ihm die Peitsche. Das Gold des reichen und geizigen Vetters Klaus verwandelt der Berggeist in Steine. Auf seiner Wanderung hungrig geworden, kehrt Rübezahl in Gestalt eines Fuhrmanns in einen Gasthof ein. Als der gefräßige Wirt ihm vor lauter Gier die Hälfte der bestellten Rühreier vom Teller nascht, fordert Rübezahl die bereits bezahlten Eier zurück...
