A Coach's Daughter

It's a blistering hot summer. Maciej Kornet is traveling around Poland with his 17-year-old daughter, Wiktoria. It's been only the two of them for years, always together. The route they take is determined by where tennis competitions are being held. She is the apple of his eye, while he's her entire whole world. At least until they're joined by Igor, a promising player who starts training with Maciej. As a result, Wiktoria opens herself up to new experiences.

Kaj is a stubborn man with a great deal of pride. The former chef lives in a council flat. His initial instinct is to avoid her, but by chance he ends up helping to look after Jonas, her six-year-old son. For the first time for years Kaj need not survive on his own devices. Now he has responsibilities and a family of his own.

A visual documentary of Einstürzende Neubauten, the German underground band, by Japanese cult director Sogo Ishii, made during their 1985 tour of Japan. The band makes an elaborate and remarkably choreographed appearance in the ruins of an old ironworks which was scheduled for demolition; footage of same was incorporated into the movie and a brief appearance on stage.
