The Visit

Hagar comes to visit her father who lives in a nursing home in Jerusalem. Unable to deal with his condition she looks at him and turns away, but a series of incidents forces her to spend the day in the building. First a mishap which makes her change her clothes, then an old woman stuck with her wheelchair in the hallway and then the head nurse that thinks Hagar is a Russian caretaker. She gets swallowed up in the work and slowly becomes part of the staff. The short visit turns into a journey between the narrow corridors of society.

Artemide's Knee

Jean-Marie Straub's first film after the death of Danièlle Huillet is a love poem to her. Le Genou d'Artémide is based on Cesare Pavese's "Dialogues of Leuco", which had already been adapted by Straub et Huillet as Ces Rencontres Avec Eux (2006).

Serafina treks a narrow path, but in the end became closer to those who matter most and gained a newfound respect for adulthood.

This sparks within the young boy an interest to find out more about the old man's past. What he ultimately discovers aids both him and the old man towards a richer understanding of how the weight of life and identity should be carried.
