Assumptions

According to Emma Pine (direction), Assumptions is a short film focusing on a young female point of view and her emotional behaviour. It aims to showcase the standards set for all women regarding appearance, emotion and attitude in everyday environments which ultimately condition them and the way they express themselves.

Faro

Lidia and her father, Pablo, return to the family lighthouse after her mother’s death. Pablo, aware of Lidia's fragile emotional balance, worries for a possible relapse after her suicide attempt. Lidia, annoyed by her father's lack of trust, will discover that something’s not right at the Lighthouse, and that danger awaits for them if they do not find out the truth.

A Christmas Visitor

The Boyajian family learned of 18-year-old John's death in the Persian Gulf War on Christmas Eve eleven years earlier and have not celebrated Christmas since. They have been so consumed by his death that they have forgotten the joys of the holidays, until a mysterious visitor enters their lives and rekindles the spirit of the season.

Before Sunset

Nine years later, Jesse travels across Europe giving readings from a book he wrote about the night he spent in Vienna with Celine. After his reading in Paris, Celine finds him, and they spend part of the day together before Jesse has to again leave for a flight.
