Afflitto dai suoi fallimenti torna al suo lavoro e durante una proiezione si addormenta sognando di essere il grande detective "Sherlock Jr" e di risolvere il caso di un furto di una collana di perle. Si risveglierà all'arrivo della sua amata che dopo aver scoperto il complotto ordito dall'altro pretendente, lo scagionerà da ogni accusa riguardo al furto dell'orologio del padre.

Il mulino del Po

La pellicola ha inizio nell'Italia post-risorgimentale (il riferimento alla tassa sul macinato ed all'uso dei contagiri, indica gli anni tra il 1869 ed il 1880, quando l'imposta fu in vigore) ed è ambientato nei pressi del delta ferrarese del Po. Per motivi tecnici il film fu girato nel mantovano e non nel ferrarese, salvo alcune riprese effettuate nei pressi di Occhiobello (Rovigo)[1]. L'austerità ed il lavoro quotidiano di due famiglie locali, Scacerni e Verginesi, vengono interrotte in un giorno speciale: il fidanzamento dei rispettivi figli, Berta ed Orbino. La gioia del brindisi tra le famiglie è però guastata dall'arrivo dei finanzieri, giunti a verificare che gli Scacerni non abbiano di nuovo manomesso i contatori del loro mulino per non pagare il balzello: in tal caso, ci sarebbero l'arresto e la confisca.

In the 40s, 50s and 60s it caught the spirit of America as it blossomed into a world superpower and its influence on American people was unparalleled. Fashion photographer Rankin celebrates the work of Life's legendary photographers including Alfred Eisenstaedt and Margaret Bourke-White, who went to outrageous lengths to get the best picture. He travels across the USA to meet Bill Eppridge, John Shearer, John Loengard, Burk Uzzle and Harry Benson, who have shot the big moments in American history - from the assassination of Robert F Kennedy to the Civil Rights struggle and the Vietnam War. These photographers pioneered new forms of photojournalism, living with and photographing their subjects for weeks, enabling them to capture compelling yet ordinary aspects of American life too. Il piccolo si sente solo ed emarginato, ma in seguito ad una tromba d'aria la gallina si trova separata dai suoi pulcini, in balia della corrente di un fiume che porta ad una cascata. Il coraggioso anatroccolo sfida la sorte e decide di salvare i fratelli usando un mantice come imbarcazione. Una volta riportati tutti i pulcini sani e salvi a riva, la madre adotta anche lui nella sua nidiata.

Jerry, sempre più depresso dalla vita di campagna, scrive una lettera al dormiente Tom in cui gli spiega che per tale motivo partirà per New York per non tornare mai più. Arrivato al Grand Central Terminal, il topo esplora la città e ammira i grattacieli, tentando anche di "scalare" l'Empire State Building. La sera, Jerry deve subito far fronte alle prime difficoltà, rischiando di venire investito. Si rifugia in un edificio e sale con l'ascensore, arrivando in un ristorante all'ultimo piano. Dopo aver esplorato alcune stanze, arriva sulla terrazza e sale su un tavolo, mettendosi a ballare con le bambole segnaposto. Mentre balla finisce in una bottiglia di champagne e viene sparato giù dall'edificio, e usando un calzino come paracadute atterra in un vicolo buio pieno di gatti. Jerry scappa via, ma si scontra con dei bidoni della spazzatura che alla fine lo fanno volare contro la vetrina di una gioielleria. La polizia, pensando che sia un ladro, inizia a sparargli...
