The Hosts

This documentary shows four Brazilians who were affected by the 2014 FIFA World Cup in different ways, from a woman selling street food by the stadiums to a man who was displaced by construction projects. It paints a social-political portrait of Brazil in this historical time - before, during and four years after the World Cup - and makes a commentary on FIFA, mega-events, and their long-term impacts on the host countries.

Davud è catapultato in un viaggio all’insegna della scoperta, nel quale non riesce a riconoscere la sua “metà mancante”, fino a quando arriva ad accettare il fatto che vivere in pericolo è il suo destino, che la morte avrà sempre la meglio rispetto alle sue vicende personali e che liberarsene sarà la sua iniziazione per addentrarsi appieno nella vita. Dopo avere intrapreso un cammino in divenire, alla fine Davud ritorna nel luogo dove ha sempre vissuto. Qui trova l’Amore ad attenderlo, ma forse è troppo tardi.
