Le riprese del film di Franco Maresco su Carmelo Bene vengono bruscamente interrotte dopo l’ennesimo incidente sul set. A staccare la spina è il produttore Andrea Occhipinti, esasperato dai ciak infiniti e dai ripetuti ritardi. Dal canto suo, il regista di Belluscone e La mafia non è più quella di una volta accusa la produzione di “filmicidio”, facendo poi perdere le sue tracce. A cercare di ricucire lo strappo è un amico di Maresco, Umberto Cantone, che chiama a testimoni tutti coloro che hanno partecipato all’impresa, in un'indagine che è l'occasione per ripercorrere la personalità e le idee dell’autore più corrosivo e apocalittico del cinema italiano. E se intanto, lontano da tutto e da tutti, Maresco stesse ultimando il suo film, diventato “il solo modo per dare forma alla rabbia e all’orrore che provo per questo mondo di merda”?
