Capturing Avatar

Capturing Avatar is a feature length behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of Avatar. It uses footage from the film's development, as well as stock footage from as far back as the production of Titanic in 1995. Also included are numerous interviews with cast, artists, and other crew members. The documentary was released as a bonus feature on the extended collector's edition of Avatar.

La straordinaria fuga dal campo 7A

Dovendo trasferire Lucy a Innsbruck, Stephen viaggia con due militari e una giovane cuoca. Lungo la strada, Brooks sopprime un soldato della scorta che minacciava di uccidere Lucy, poi decide di raggiungere la Svizzera valicando i monti insieme all'animale. L'originalità del soggetto trabocca nell'eccesso, e il film diventa stucchevole. Uno dei classici colossi semiseri e strampalati che si producevano nel periodo.

The Other Side of Beyoğlu

Reminiscent of Martin Scorsese's 1985 production, After Hours, this film narrates the events of a night in the chaotic backstreets of Beyoğlu in Istanbul. The day he receives his wage, and after arguing with his wife, Haydar (Tarik Akan) leaves the house in a fury and heads to Beyoğlu for a wild night out. However, a prostitute and her pimp bring him such troubles, and he finds himself penniless and in police custody.

Un film documentario sperimentale tedesco girato a Berlino da Walter Ruttmann nel settembre del 1927, che descrive una giornata nella grande metropoli tedesca, che proprio in quegli annii stava vivendo un grande boom industriale, e permette di dare uno sguardo alle abitudini di vita e di lavoro di quei tempi. L'idea di Ruttman era quella rappresentare la metropoli berlinese come un organismo vivente: il regista vedeva un'analogia tra la vita della città, dal lento risveglio della città alla frenesia del giorno fino al progressivo spegnimento serale, e l'andamento di una sinfonia.

L'arrivo di un treno alla stazione di La Ciotat

Un gruppo di persone sono in piedi lungo la piattaforma della stazione ferroviaria di La Ciotat, in attesa di un treno. Il treno arriva da lontano, finché alla fine si ferma alla piattaforma. Le porte delle vetture si aprono e gli assistenti aiutano i passeggeri a scendere e salire. La leggenda narra che, quando il film fu mostrato la prima volta, il pubblico fuggì dal caffè in preda al terrore, perché convinti che il treno avesse potuto investiti. Anche se si pensa che la leggenda non sia altro che un racconto promozionale, gli spettatori rimasero certamente sbalorditi dalle capacità del cinematografo.

I passeggeri, ognuno con la propria storia, si ritrovano cosi in un lontano passato e dovranno lottare con la regina del regno contro un perfido usurpatore, Oltre all'ottima storia è divertente vedere i personaggi delle altre opere di Tezuka lavorare qui come attori, tra gli altri Zaffiro (adulta e regina del regno), Atom (in italia Astroboy), Kimba e altri.

A volte ritornano

Jim é un insegnante di letteratura. Per motivi di lavoro è costretto a trasferirsi con la sua famiglia nella città dove ha trascorso la sua traumatica infanzia. Da bambino Jim e suo fratello maggiore Wayne vennero aggrediti in un tunnel ferroviario da un gruppo di teppisti. Wayne perse la vita accidentalmente per mano del capobranco, Jim si mise in fuga mentre 3 dei 4 teppisti vennero investiti da un treno in corsa. Sconvolti dal terribile lutto il piccolo Jim e i suoi genitori abbandonarono per sempre la città. Ora, ormai maturo è costretto a ritornare con la sua famiglia nello stesso luogo che segnò la sua vita per sempre e dove lo attende il suo passato: i tre malviventi che uccisero suo fratello Wayne sono tornati per la resa dei conti.
