Ispirato dai fumetti E.C. del 1950, G.Romero e S. King portano sullo schermo 5 imperdibili novelle del terrore! La storia comincia con un padre, Stan, che rimprovera severamente il figlio, Billy, perché beccato a leggere un albo di Creepshow, una raccolta di storie dell'orrore a fumetti. Terminato il litigio, Stan getta il fumetto nella spazzatura ritirandosi poi in salotto, mentre Billy affranto prega i personaggi del fumetto di vendicare l'ingiustizia, che magicamente prendono vita accerchiando la casa. Una figura spettrale, lo "Zio Creepy", appare alla finestra della cameretta del bambino e facendogli cenno di avvicinarsi, comincia a narrare delle storie.

La statua di un capo indiano campeggia all'ingresso del drugstore di Roy e Martha Spurce. Quando il negozio viene assaltato da dei malviventi la statua si anima e fa giustizia. Due coppie in vacanza fuori stagione fanno il bagno in un lago e finiscono male. Al ritorno da un'avventura extra coniugale, una donna travolge con l'auto un autostoppista di colore, fugge via e continua a vivere nel rimorso. Seconda puntata di "Creepshow", ma la struttura (quella dell'album a fumetti) è identica alla prima. Lo spunto è offerto da racconti di Stephen King, la sceneggiatura è di Romero (regista del primo film), ma allora: perché questa volta non funziona?
