Life of a Mutt

Through seven scenes, the film follows the life and destinies of stray dogs from the margins of our society, leading us to reconsider our attitude towards them. Through the seven “wandering” characters that we follow at different ages, from birth to old age, we witness their dignified struggle for survival. At the cemetery, in an abandoned factory, in an asylum, in a landfill, in places full of sorrow, our heroes search for love and togetherness. By combining documentary material, animation and acting interpretation of the thoughts of our heroes, we get to know lives between disappointment and hope, quite similar to ours.

The love of women who have been separated because of man, and the two men's friendship is comically drawn.

Within the undulating trees, not everything is as it seems. Who has come to Earth? Do we need a hero to save us all?

How I Unleashed World War II, Part III: Among Friends

Disguised as an Italian medic, Dolas finds himself on a ship evacuating wounded Axis soldiers to Italy. He leaves the ship disguised as a Nazi soldier, but is found out, declared a deserter and sent to the Eastern Front. However, on the flight to Russia, he is able to escape with a parachute, and finds himself back in Poland, now occupied by Nazis.

Godzilla contro Destroyer

1996: Birth Island, residenza del re dei mostri, viene distrutta misteriosamente. Contemporaneamente il mostro Godzilla, con la pelle ricoperta di ferite ardenti, attacca la città di Hong Kong. Lo studente Kenichi Yamane, nipote adottivo del professor Yamane, ritiene che Godzilla non sia più in grado di contenere le reazioni nucleari all'interno del suo corpo: se la potenza di Godzilla eruttasse completamente fuori, l'esplosione conseguente distruggerebbe l'intero Giappone, in altre parole, Godzilla si è trasformato in una bomba atomica ambulante. A short film that tells the story of three older men who come into the same restaurant on Wednesday mornings at the same time every week. The story is told from the perspective of Megan, the newly hired waitress at the restaurant that takes classes at night. Through her deliberate acts of respect and purposeful efforts to get to know these gentlemen the shroud of their grumpy appearance is lifted and as the men open up the impact of their life stories extend beyond Megan.

Ernst Fritz Fürbringer interpreta il presidente della White Star Line, che incautamente ha spinto il capitano del Titanic (Otto Wernicke) a fare la traversata più rapida possibile verso New York. È interessante notare che il regista Herbert Selpin è stato arrestato dalla Gestapo durante la produzione di questo film e la censura tedesca ha vietato il film per le sue scene di panico e terrore.

Lo Zoo di Venere

Sotto il titolo originale (“una zeta e due zeri”, crittogramma dai molti significati) c'è una storia con Alba che perde una gamba e un figlio in uno scontro in auto con un cigno, incidente in cui muoiono le mogli di due gemelli (già siamesi) etologi, Oswald e Osmund Deuce (i due O, zeri, del titolo inglese) che lavorano nello zoo di Rotterdam. I due diventano prima amanti di Alba, poi “padre” dei suoi nascituri e, infine, suicidi dopo che la donna, amputata anche all'altra gamba, trova l'anima gemella nel signor Arcobaleno, monco in carrozzella. Cerebrale sino all'esasperazione e perverso, è basato sul rapporto uomo-animale, sul corpo dei personaggi (sempre a figura intera senza piani ravvicinati) e sulla pittura (Vermeer soprattutto e i fiamminghi del '400 come Robert Campin e Jan Van Eyck). RR

Looping, chugging and barreling by, the trains in Benning's latest monumental film map a stunning topography and a history of American development. RR comes three decades after Benning and Bette Gordon made The United States of America (1975), a cinematic journey along the country’s interstates that is keenly aware “of superhighways and railroad tracks as American public symbols.” A political essay responding to the economic histories of trains as instruments in a culture of hyper-consumption, RR articulates its concern most explicitly when Eisenhower's military-industrial complex speech is heard as a mile long coal train passes through eastern Wyoming. Benning spent two and a half years collecting two hundred and sixteen shots of trains, forty-three of which appear in RR. The locomotives' varying colors, speeds, vectors, and reverberations are charged with visual thrills, romance and a nostalgia heightened by Benning's declaration that this will be his last work in 16mm film.
