Return To Forever furono l'avanguardia del jazz / rock fusion negli anni settanta e come i loro coetanei Weather Report e Mahavishnu Orchestra si sono formati da un ex Miles Davis sideman, in questo caso il grande Chick Corea. Tornano a colpire attingendo dal successo commerciale e artistico con una serie di album a metà degli anni settanta caratterizzano la line-up di Chick Corea alle tastiere, Stanley Clarke al basso, Al Di Meola alla chitarra e Lenny White alla batteria. Nel 2008 questa classica line-up si è riunita per il loro primo tour in 25 anni e hanno dimostrato che la loro musicalità e la chimica all'interno della band era più forte che mai. Questo concerto è stato filmato a Montreux nel luglio 2008 con le bonus track di essere girato a Clearwater, in Florida, in seguito lo stesso mese.

Il sestetto, comprendente (oltre a Metheny) il batterista Antonio Sanchez, il bassista Steve Rodby, il tastierista Lyle Mays ed i multistrumentisti Cuong Vu e Richard Bona, si lancia in impeccabili esecuzioni di classici della band ed esegue inoltre un brano di Jobim, "How Insensitive".
